I was recently confirmed to joining Emirates Airline on 15th Aug, 2008. that means moving, leaving Trinidad and practically migrating to Dubai (I’ll only be back home for a couple of weeks every five or so months if I’m lucky). this is all so exciting and very nerve racking. this world wind adventure only started exactly three months ago today...answering an advertisement in the Express i went to an open day at Crowne Plaza.
wow , if you see ppl, there was over 150 eager men and women there standing in the first floor lobby. all perfectly dressed with updated resumes in hand. i was a bit nervous as i didn't have any previous experience in this field, airhostess. i over heard those who were past BWIA employees and how they were a sew in. i said a quiet pray as a woman came out and asked us in her Russian accent to please come into the conference room and have a seat. for the rest of the next two days i had stepped into Americans next top model tv show... there were challenges, eliminations tears of joy and those of sorrow... it was crazy. at the end of the second day there was less than twenty standing ( yuh girl being one of them).on the Saturday i had my two-on-one interview, i was the one! after that my only interaction was via email and so for the next few months i did what was asked of me ( scan and email this, do medicals and complete that ). Again nerve racking. Thankfully i made a friend back at the interviews, she got in too, and having someone to go through all this with helped big time.
During this time of medicals and sending and receiving emails i got married, moved into my new apartment and had serious doubts about all this. My husband is very supportive and all he tells me is to go for it! so here i go. i am scheduled to join Emirates on the 15th august 2008 and now very excited and doing as much research as is humanly possible. I’m about to start making my lists, things i will need to buy, to pack, to do , and all this before i leave.
knowing that this is a blessing and i welcome it.
I’ll keep making up dated of my experience from here to Dubai and my life over there.
Bye for now.
